Martin's Carpet Installation

Before Installation
Savory Days ClearTouch Carpet by Shaw

Before your installation, our professional estimator will come to your home and determine how much carpet you will need for your job. If your carpet will need seamed together and you have a preference on the location, this is the time to let us know.

In most cases the rooms that are being carpeted will need to be completely empty. For a fee we can move your furniture however, we ask that all small items and anything breakable are removed from on top and inside of the furniture. We also ask that all linens be removed from beds and all wiring detached from electronics.

Some homeowners prefer to remove the old flooring themselves in order to save some money, please ask what exactly needs to be removed and what can be left there. For example, most times the tackstrip can be reused and we prefer that doorway seams to other rooms be cut a couple o f inches long so we can cut them to the exact spot needed.

The removal of some flooring materials can be dust y and noisy at times. Every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum however, some customers prefer to cover doorways ahead of time in order to keep dust confined to the areas being replaced. There are also times when the subfloor may need to be repaired. Whenever possible, this should be done before the installation day. Minor repairs can be done by our installers, major repairs will need to be done by a contractor.

There will be an additional cost if this is not known before estimates are given and it is not discovered until we remove the old flooring. There are contractors that we work with on a regular basis and can recommend if needed.

During/After Installation

During the installation of your carpet it’s possible that the backing of some carpets will leave light scratches on the woodwork.

Most times they can be wiped off with a damp rag, furniture polish, or touch up wax. Most times carpet seams are inevitable, our installers will do their very best to make them blend in as much as possible however, they may not be invisible.

Most carpets retain some loose fibers after they leave the factory, this can give the appearance that the carpet is shedding, in time this will go away.

After your carpet installation there may be some leftover carpet, it’s a good idea to keep some pieces just in case you ever need to do a repair or if you would like matching rugs or runners, we also offer binding for a reasonable price.

If your doors do not clear your new carpet, our installers can trim the bottom for a small fee or they can leave them off if you prefer to cut them yourself.

You should also plan on having your carpet professionally steam cleaned every 12 to 18 months to maintain your factory warranty, we offer this service at a competitive price. Regular vacuuming and steam cleaning will help ensure a long carpet life for you to enjoy.

We recommend reading the warranty and care packet provided with your invoice, some types of carpet have recommended vacu ums and care. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
